NPTEL Assist is a browser extension that runs locally in your Chrome browser. This policy explains what data is involved when you use it.

Data we collect

We do not collect, store, or transmit personal data to any remote server operated by NPTEL Assist. There is no account system and no analytics backend.

What the extension accesses

NPTEL / Swayam pages — to read questions and options, match pasted answers to available options, and navigate the course outline sidebar when you use those features.
Text you paste — answer text stays in the popup and is sent only to the active tab’s content script to match options. It is not uploaded elsewhere.
Images on course pages — when you use Copy Questions, images may be downloaded to your computer’s Downloads folder so you can attach them elsewhere.

Permissions

activeTab / scripting — communicate with the page you have open.
downloads — save extracted question images locally.
Host access to NPTEL, Swayam, and related image hosts — only as needed for the features above.

Third parties

The popup may load fonts from Google Fonts. NPTEL Assist is not affiliated with NPTEL, Swayam, or Google.
